How to Insert images into Your Gmail Messages

If you often use Gmail for sending the messages, you should know about unique image inserting features in Gmail. We often use “Attach a file” options to attach and send the images in email. But sometimes just sending the message with attatched pictures may not give the proper idea or description about the pictures to the reciever. You also always want to make your message more clear and understandable for reciever so that it can give vivid picture of what you want to say.

So, wouldn’t it be nice if you could just insert the picture right within the message and add a proper description about the picture, lets say as a caption for the picture or image ? Well, Gmail just got the feature which can fulfill your wish.In this post, we will introduce you with two ways of inserting images into the Gmail message without the need to attach.

1. Drag and Drop images into messages
Recently, Gmail launched a Drag and Drop feature to drag and drop the files to attach them with the message. Now you can just drag the image in the message box to insert it in the message. You can resize it if you want and add some description about the picture just below it. Then, send it. Currently, this feature works in Google Chrome and Safari.

In the image below , the image “Bloganol-Logo.jpg” has been dragged from the desktop and dropped directly into the message box without the need to attach.

2. Enable “Inserting images” from Labs tab
You may think dragging feature is more easier and time saving than using “Inserting images” lab from Labs tab. But, it has got its own special features to help you in inserting the pictures. It allows you to upload and insert image files in your computer or insert images even by URLs. Just turn on “Inserting images” from the Labs tab under Settings, and you’ll see a new toolbar icon like this:

Note that Gmail doesn’t show URL-based images in messages by default to protect you from spammers. That is why, if you are sending mail to other Gmail users, they will still have to click “Display images below” or “Always display images from…” to see images you embed.
