Master Blasters- Top Ten

Shane Watson's 15 hits beyond the boundary against Bangladesh helped him take the lead in an elite list of batsmen who have slammed their way past the opposition, inflicting maximum damage allowed under cricketing laws. A look at the top ten:

1. Xavier Marshal (2008): The Jamaican came to the crease, lofted 12 massive hits beyond the boundary to help himself to 157and in the process, left behind him a completely demoralized Canadian bowling attack.

2. Sanath Jayasuriya (1996): The most successful batsman of the 1996 World Cup, Jayasuriya slammed 11 sixes against Pakistan the same year in Singapore to finish on a personal score of 134.

3. Shahid Afridi (1996): The Boom Boom man avenged the embarrassment for the Singapore debacle by hitting the Lankans for 11 sixes in Nairobi and finish on with 102 runs.

4. MS Dhoni(2005): The current Indian skipper proved his mettle early on in his career when he took the Sri Lankan bowlers beyond the boundary ropes 10 times on his way to an unbeaten 183 in Jaipur.

5. Mark Boucher (2006): The wicket-keeper batsman had adrenaline pumping perhaps when he struck 10 sixes in an unbeaten knock of 147 (off 68 balls) against Zimbabwe at Potchefstroom.

6. Matthew Hayden (2007): Though the mongoose had not come out then, Hayden did hit 10 sixes against New Zealand at Hamilton. His knock of 181 came of 166 balls.

7. Brendon McCullum (2008): New Zealand destroyed Ireland when McCullum unleashed his full fury to hit the ball into the stand 10 times in his knock of 166 at Aberdeen.

8. Abdul Razzaq (2010): South Africans were left dumb-founded when Razzaq came to the middle and took 60 runs in only hits for the maximum at Abu Dhabi. He finished his innings unbeaten on 109.

9. Ijaz Ahmed (1997): The spectators at Lahore hardly stopped celebrating as Ijaz destroyed the Indian bowling line up. He hit 9 sixes on course to his personal score of 139.
